               Medical Coding is the process of assigning standard codes to medical diagnoses and procedures related to the treatment of patients in order to facilitate the collection and analysis of healthcare data.

                   A Medical Coder is responsible for assigning codes to medical diagnoses and procedures for reimbursement, research, and data collection purposes. They review medical records to identify diagnoses and procedures and assign codes to those records. They must understand the coding systems and be able to apply those codes correctly. They must be knowledgeable of medical terminology and anatomy, and have a thorough understanding of the coding systems and regulations. They must also have excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. 

Responsibilities :

• Review medical records to identify diagnoses and procedures.

• Possess excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. • Keep up to date on coding changes, regulations, and new technology. 

• Assist with coding audits and appeals. 

• Generate coding reports. 

• Ensure accuracy and compliance with coding regulations. 

• Train and mentor new coders.
